Mike McFatrich joined NewLeaf Symbiotics as vice president for business strategy and development in 2015. In this role, he develops strategy, directs business development and guides the field biology effort. He is keenly interested in sustainability and the interface of biological crop protection tools with traditional chemical solutions to enhance crop performance starting with the seed.

Prior to joining NewLeaf, McFatrich was the global director of business management for Seed Solutions at BASF . He also held key business management roles with Gustafson/Bayer and Chemtura, and served as director of marketing & sales - NAFTA region at Becker Underwood/BASF. His industry experience includes work as a university crop specialist, manager of a soybean breeding program, general manager of a regional seed company, and product manager for crop protection seed treatment products for cotton, sorghum, peanut, rice and vegetables.

McFatrich is actively involved in the industry as a member of the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology, National Corn Growers Asscoition and the National Sorghum Producers.

McFatrich earned degrees in botany from the University of Missouri and plant genetics from Oregon State University.
