Devon Pattillo is an Agricultural Marketing Specialist for the USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP) and serves as a lead rule writer in the NOP’s Standards Division. The Standards Division is responsible for proposing and finalizing revisions to the USDA organic regulations, including standards for the production and handling of organic products and requirements for USDA-accredited certifiers. Devon has worked extensively on recent NOP rules related to livestock production standards and integrity in the organic supply chain. Over his time at the NOP, Devon has also served as a technical expert and rule writer on issues related to the “National List,” the section of the regulations which specifies the substances that are allowed and prohibited in organic production and handling. Prior to joining the National Organic Program in 2017, Devon worked for CCOF Certification Services (Santa Cruz, CA), where he reviewed organic operations for compliance to the USDA organic regulations, managed material review activities, and supervised a livestock certification team. Devon holds a B.A. in Biology from Reed College.
