Lee Quarles first joined Bayer’s Crop Science Division (formerly Monsanto Company) in 1999. Over the last twenty years, he has worked in the agriculture company’s Corporate Engagement, Corporate Affairs and Global Public Affairs organizations.

Quarles is a team leader in the Global Strategic Insights team within Bayer’s Crop Science Division. His team leads global consumer market research programs as well as delivers consumer insights on the social/online and broader marketplace. Quarles and his team lead market research – including both primary and secondary research around topics related to agriculture, the solutions connected to it, as well as ways that the ag sector can continue to improve engagement with society. Quarles was nominated by Bayer and other research leaders across the agriculture sector for Quirk’s Market Researcher of the Year award in 2019, and he was selected as one of four global finalists for the award.

Prior to this role, Quarles led Global Strategic Communications for Monsanto. In this role, he led the global executive communications and engagement program for Robb Fraley, Monsanto’s Chief Technology Officer and World Food Prize Laureate, as well as strategic communications for the company’s R&D pipeline and commercial portfolio. His work included leading communications for high-profile public debates, such as Intelligence Squared (IQ2); high-profile media engagements, such as the Food Evolution documentary; as well as key engagements with stakeholders, such as Bill Nye “The Science Guy.”

Quarles received his Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with an emphasis on marketing from Saint Louis University in 1999. Quarles and his wife live in St. Louis with their three daughters.
