Description

Senior leaders from the three Federal agencies, USDA, FDA, and EPA will review the current state of regulatory actions and regulatory priorities pertaining to products of biotechnology, and ramifications for products of plant breeding innovation.  Since 2017 with the modernization of the Coordinated Framework for the Regulation of Biotechnology, Federal agencies have being making strides in updating the federal biotechnology regulatory policy and relevant regulations.  On March 14, 2020, USDA published the Final Rule for its revision to the biotechnology regulations.  On December 9, 2010, EPA closed the public comment period to the Proposed Rule to exempt certain plant incorporated protectants (PIPs) developed through newer technologies.
