Justice Ruwona is a Ph.D. candidate in Plant Pathology at Purdue University, with an anticipated graduation in May 2027. His research focuses on integrated turfgrass disease management, with a primary emphasis on dollar spot – the most economically significant disease affecting golf course turf in North America. He evaluates minimally disruptive interseeding strategies to facilitate the transition of golf fairways to creeping bentgrass cultivars with enhanced genetic resistance. With previous professional experience in agronomy and crop insurance, Justice is passionate about the intersection of plant health and commercial productivity. He is drawn to the seed industry because it forms the foundation for addressing societal grand challenges, such as global hunger and food insecurity. Justice aspires to contribute to the development and deployment of resilient, high-performing cultivars to drive sustainable agriculture. Outside of research, he enjoys hosting barbecues, watching sports, and discussing the future of global agriculture.
