Rick M. Deadwyler, Jr., serves as the U.S. Eastern Region Director for Government & Industry Affairs for Corteva Agriscience after previously serving 12 years in External Affairs roles with the DuPont Company. In this role, Rick promotes, advances and defends public policy and governmental challenges, while also working to promote and protect Corteva’s the corporate reputation in what was recently the company’s headquarters community – and now a Global Corporate Business Center.

Prior to his recent return to DuPont, now Corteva, Rick served as the Assistant Vice President for Government & Community Relations at the University of Delaware for over five years. At UD, Rick lead engagement efforts on a myriad of high-profile policy, economic development, diversity, admissions and budget issues and opportunities – both on and off campus. Additionally, he served as the Vice President of Community Engagement for the Delaware Community Foundation, where utilized his extensive network and long-standing relationships with the Delaware Valley’s business and community leaders to strategically convene key organizations and guided funding resources to support and help address Delaware’s priority community challenges.

Rick was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, and graduated from the University of Delaware, where he graduated with “The Presidential Students of Promise” honors and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1993. Rick displayed a distinguished level of academic achievement, as well as athletic prowess, and he was recognized as “Mr. Delaware Basketball” and IAABO’s Player of the Year. He was named to the Converse All-American Team. While attending the University of Delaware, he was a member and Co-captain of the Men’s Basketball program. This team earned two (2) North Atlantic Conference Championships, and they participated in two NCAA National March Madness Tournaments in 1992 and 1993.

Rick is recognized a dedicated community leader throughout the Greater Delaware Valley for over 25 years. He has worked and volunteered his time to countless organizations committed to the Delaware community including the Food Bank of Delaware and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware. Rick currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Delaware.

In his most important role as a husband and father, Rick currently resides in Newark, Delaware with his wife of 25 years, Yvonne and their sons, Ricky, Jaden and Zachary.
