Dr. Veronica Roman-Reyna is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology. Her research focuses on integrating advanced -omics tools in a holistic framework to study how plant pathogens evolve and adapt in response to host and environmental factors. By combining molecular, genomic, and ecological insights, her work aims to strengthen resilience and sustainability within agricultural systems. Her current research includes tracking the adaptation of significant pathogens, such as the bacterium responsible for Goss’s wilt in corn. Throughout her global career, Dr. Roman-Reyna has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to address key challenges affecting major staple crops, including corn, potato, rice, wheat, and barley. Her research continues to connect fundamental plant pathology with industry-relevant applications that support agricultural productivity and innovation.
