Modesta Abugu is a dynamic and innovative training facilitator, science communicator, researcher and strategic planner who has dedicated her career to empowering individuals and organizations to reach their full potential. With a background in plant breeding and a passion for communication, Modesta has over seven years’ experience delivering impactful training programs that inspire and engage various stakeholders in public and private agricultural organizations. She has also been widely involved in grassroots campaigns geared towards creating an enabling policy environment for farmers to gain access to new agricultural innovations in various countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and the United States. Some of her former and current clients include Alliance for Science, Boyce Thompson Institute, African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF), Open Forum on Agricultural Technology (OFAB), Women in Genomics (WIG), the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB), Norfolk Plant Sciences and others. Modesta obtained her BSc degree in biochemistry from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Nigeria, and an MSc in horticultural science from the University of Florida, and a PhD in view, from North Carolina State University.
