Alencar got his Ph. D. at Purdue University in Soybean Breeding and Statistical Genetics. Alencar has worked at Corteva Agrisciences since 2016 as a quantitative geneticist and breeding analyst, and since 2017 he has been an adjunct professor at Purdue University. His work is focused on genomic-assisted breeding with an emphasis on theoretical and computational aspects of data-driven plant breeding.
