Dr. Elizabeth Savory is a plant pathologist and seed regulatory expert who manages the Plant Health and Seed Programs at the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA). The Plant Health program focuses on safeguarding Oregon from invasive plant pests and diseases by providing diagnostic services and testing, surveying for regulated pathogens, and providing outreach and education to both industry stakeholders and the general public. The Seed Program provides licenses, sampling and other services to the seed industry and regulates the sale and labeling of agricultural and vegetable seed sold, offered for sale, or transported within Oregon. Prior to joining ODA, she was a post-doctoral fellow at Oregon State University where she did research on the evolution of plant pathogenic bacteria. She has a PhD in Plant Pathology from Michigan State University and a BS in Plant Science from Cornell University.
