Kevin Norton serves as the Acting Chief for NRCS. He comes from serving as the NRCS Associate Chief, where he provides oversight of the agency’s programs, technology and administrative operations, along with national direction and oversight for the agency's financial and technical assistance programs, and Deputy Chief areas.
In prior work with NRCS, Kevin served as the NRCS State Conservationist in Louisiana. He began his NRCS career in 1981 as a Range Conservationist in Lawton, Oklahoma after graduating from Oklahoma State University. He has also served in key positions and support roles to NRCS, House Ag Committee members and staff, producers and partners during lengthy agency details for the 2018 and 2014 Farm Bills.
Kevin was raised in south central Oklahoma in a diverse agricultural setting of irrigated peanuts, cotton, watermelons, small grains, and livestock.
