Dr. Heuchelin is the leader of the Corteva Plant Pathology Group at Johnston, IA and is responsible for providing pathology support to their world-wide business units. He started his career with Pioneer in 2003, after a 5-year term as a faculty member in the Agronomy Department at Iowa State University where he developed and taught courses in Integrated Pest Management and Crop Protection. Since joining Pioneer, his responsibilities have included disease characterization research for foliar diseases, stalk rots and ear rots; field support for winter nurseries, agronomists and sales, phytosanitary training, development of disease education materials, and directing diagnostic assay development and maize product characterization for disease resistance. His crop responsibilities include diseases of corn, sorghum, soybeans, wheat and sunflower for US and international markets, IPM support for winter nurseries, and world-wide disease and phytosanitary support for the company's international business. He is a past chairman of the American Phytopathological Society’s Seed Pathology and Diagnostics Committees, a member of the American Seed Trade Association’s Phytosanitary Committee and the USDA-APHIS National Seed Heath System (NSHS) Policy and Procedures Advisory Board (PPAB).
