Name
Illinois Crop Improvement Association: Future Seed Tests
Date & Time
Tuesday, December 7, 2021, 4:10 PM - 4:20 PM
Doug Miller
Description

Agenda:

  1. Introduction
  2. Direct, indirect and predictive tests
  3. Update on digital corn analyzer
  4. Similar techniques for seed testing

Synopsis: The grain industry has widely adopted methods that assess composition and quality by indirect and predictive measures the lean heavily on chemistry and physics. Building on last year’s Identity Preserved Grain Lab tour Doug will provide an update on the food-grade corn digital analyzer and share some terms that we may all need to know in the future. Many of today’s seed testing methods are direct methods that rely on more traditional assays. Some areas of seed testing have adopted or are adapting to more predictive tools, including indirect methods. What opportunities are there for seed testing using indirect and predictive techniques?
