Trevor Hohls leads the Global Seeds Product Development team at Syngenta. He leads a global team of over 2,700 scientists that are shaping the future of Agriculture by reimagining our seeds product pipeline for all field crops, vegetables and flowers. They are applying cutting-edge science and leveraging the latest disruptive technologies to solve problems for farmers and drive on-farm value. This encompasses germplasm development, trait development and integration, novel breeding and digital technologies, product delivery, technology prospecting, and regulatory sciences and affairs to ensure the safety and acceptance of our products.
Trevor has been with Syngenta since September 2017 and before that Monsanto for almost 19 years. He held several roles of increasing responsibility across all core row crops and Americas in the Breeding organization at Monsanto and his last role was as Global Breeding Technology Solutions Lead. He has several patents and scientific publications, and was recognized for his technical scientific contributions by being inducted into the Monsanto Fellows Program as a Senior Science Fellow.
Trevor graduated with a BSc. Agriculture Degree in Genetics summa cum laude, and he then earned his Ph.D. Degree in Quantitative Genetics from the University of Natal in South Africa. He then completed a post-doc sabbatical in statistical genetics at NC State University. He also completed a Certificate in Business Leadership at the University of South Africa, and holds an Honorary Professorship in Quantitative Genetics and Plant Breeding at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Prior to joining Monsanto he was an Associate Professor in Quantitative Genetics and Plant Breeding at the University of Natal.
