Jungeun Joanna Lee has dedicated more than 25 years to advancing biotechnology and shaping strategy across diverse global industries. She led major initiatives as Head of Strategy and Division Lead at organizations including Accenture, Yahoo, and Samsung.

Joanna now serves as CEO of GreenGene, overseeing the company’s pioneering chloroplast and mitochondria gene-editing technology and its commercialization. Her leadership is positioning GreenGene as a key innovator in next-generation seed traits and plant resilience, enabling new possibilities for stable trait expression and advanced crop improvement. The company’s breakthroughs have been published in leading journals such as Nature Plants and Cell.

Recognized for her thought leadership in plant biotechnology and seed innovation, Joanna continues to collaborate with global research and agricultural partners to accelerate the adoption of organelle-targeted gene editing. She holds a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from Seoul National University.
