The Plant Variety Protection Board is a federal advisory committee consisting of 14 members, appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture. The primary responsibility of the Board is to advise the Secretary on developing rules and regulations to ensure the effective administration of the Plant Variety Protection Act. The Board includes farmers, professionals from the seed industry, members of trade and professional associations, and experts from public and private research institutions. Members serve two-year terms.
